Women's soccer falls 2-1 at home against Millikin

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The women’s soccer team dropped their contest against Millikin 2-1 on Wednesday night.

The two teams played through a rainy ninety minutes on Francis Field. Greenville had the first goal of the night in the 18th minute. It was an own goal by Millikin.

The Panthers sent the ball into the box where Allyson Schulz took a shot and hit the left goalpost. The ball bounced back out, and a Millikin player, trying to clear the ball, booted it into their own goal.

The score remained at 1-0 for the rest of the first half.

Leading 1-0 after halftime, Greenville had six additional shots during the second half. Although, the Big Blue managed to score in the 47th and 70th minutes, making the score 2-1.

Greenville was unable to tie it up before the clock ran out.

Angie Stedman led the Panthers offensively with three shots.

Addison Miller and Madison Ashford defended the net for Greenville. Miller had one save, and Ashford had two.

The Panthers (1-3-3) start conference play on Saturday with their 3:00 p.m. game at Fontbonne.
