Women's track led by Staley at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The women's indoor track and field team went to Illinois Wesleyan for its First Chance meet on Saturday.  Newcomer Jessica Staley performed best among Greenville's entries with a fourth place finish in the 300 meter dash.

Staley clocked a 43.76 second race in the second heat of the 300 to win the heat and place fourth among all participants.

Marideth Tate provided a seventh place performance in the weight throw with a best effort of 45 feet, 3 inches.

Tate's teammate Victoria Papez earned ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 43-8.

Rachel Hanna capped Greenville's list of top ten placements with tenth in the pole vault.  Hanna cleared a height of 9-2.25.

The track and field team will open the traditional portion of their 2017-18 season with a meet at Illinois College on Saturday, Jan. 20.
