Women's track and field secures four first place finishes at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's track and field team received four event wins at Illinois College on Saturday.  Talahiva Talanoa led the team with two victories, and Laila Graham and Emma Brown each collected one.

Talanoa recorded a pair of wins, taking first in the shot put and hammer. Her winning effort in the shot put came in at 13 meters (42 feet-8 inches), and she produced a top mark of 49.22 meters (150-3) in the hammer. She also placed second in the discus with a throw of 41.75 meters (137-0).

Graham finished first in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters (5-3). Graham added a third place effort in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.33 seconds.

Brown earned first in the javelin with a distance of 38.11 meters (125-0).

Taylor Tucker ranked third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.15.

Kenzie Kurdys provided third place in the pole vault with a best effort of 3.29 meters (10-9.5), and Abbi Thomason was third in javelin with a distance of 35.86 meters (117-8).

The Panthers will host their annual Greenville Select Meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Francis Field.
