Hayle Gibson promoted to associate head women's volleyball coach

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville University athletic department has announced the promotion of Hayle Gibson to a new role as associate head women's volleyball coach and senior woman administrator at Greenville University.

Gibson, who has served as an assistant coach for the program since 2014, played for the program from 2010 to 2013, before assuming her position as assistant coach.

Over her nine years of connection with the Greenville University women's volleyball program, she has been a part of every SLIAC regular season championship, SLIAC tournament championship, and NCAA Tournament appearance as either a player or coach.

The team has collected an overall record of 215-75, eight of nine SLIAC regular season championships, five SLIAC tournament titles, and five NCAA tournament berths in the last nine years.

As assistant coach, she has been the recruiting coordinator and has brought in talented players.  She has coached student-athletes who have accounted for three SLIAC newcomer of the year awards, two SLIAC defensive player of the year awards, one SLIAC player of the year award, and 21 SLIAC all-conference selections.

"Hayle is the backbone of this program, and it is no coincidence that she has been on our roster and our coaching staff during our best years in program history," said athletic director and head women's volleyball coach Tom Ackerman.

"She is one of the most driven, caring, and capable people I know, and everyone involved in the program has benefited greatly from her involvement."

She has been a full-time employee of Greenville University since 2015, starting as campus visit coordinator in the admissions office before moving to a position as coordinator of athletic recruitment one year later.  In April 2018, she was appointed as senior woman adminstrator where she assists in daily administration of the Greenville University athletic department and mentors the student athlete advisory committee (SAAC).

Gibson, who graduated from Greenville in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in social work, completed a master's degree in college student personnel administration at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2017.
