Women's volleyball falls in tight match against Baldwin Wallace

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The women's volleyball team traveled to Franklin for a two-day tournament, and the Panthers were defeated by Baldwin Wallace in four sets in their opening match.

Greenville slipped behind early with a 25-20 loss in the first set, but the Panthers used a hitting rate of .414 in the second set to even the match at one set each with a 25-21 victory.

Baldwin Wallace closed the match with 25-23 and 25-20 wins in the third and fourth sets.

Abby Freeman returned to the court for Greenville and had 16 kills, nine errors, and 33 attacks.

Jasmin Smith posted a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Freeman and Anna Finch were effective at the net, each earning three solo blocks. Finch added four block assists, and Freeman had two block assists.

Setters Kaitlin Murray and Jordan Lempa each managed 17 assists, and Murray chipped in a pair of service aces.

The Panthers (1-4) continue the same tournament on Saturday with matches against Franklin and Anderson.
