Women's volleyball tops Fontbonne in four

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team secured a victory in their second straight match with a four-set win over Fontbonne in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers rolled to wins in three of the four sets, taking wins by over 10 points in each of their winning sets.

Greenville finished as a 25-14, 25-14, 22-25, 25-13 winner.

The Panthers featured a balanced hitting attack with three members of the squad posting nine kills. Sacorra Patton, Jasmin Smith, and Mia Bonacorsi were among the Greenville players reaching nine kills. Of the three, Patton posted the top hitting percentage at .333.

Greenville performed well on defense, especially at the net where the team accumulated one solo block and 13 block assists. Anna Finch led GU with one solo block and four block assists. Smith picked up four block assists, and Patton had three block assists.

Defending the Griffin attack in the back row, Gretchen Bond tallied 20 digs, and Bonacorsi had 11 digs.

Bonacorsi recorded six service aces.

The Panthers (5-1, 5-1 SLIAC) host Blackburn on Friday at 7 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium with a JV match preceding at 4:30 p.m.
