GREENVILLE, Ill. - The No. 16 women's volleyball team topped No. 14 Westminster on Saturday in H.J. Long Gymnasium in a critical match in the SLIAC standings. Prior to the match, the Panthers honored seniors Anna Finch, Annie Jordan, Jordan Lempa, Jasmin Smith, and Haley Banks.

With the win, the Panthers put themselves a step closer to clinching the first or second seed in the spring SLIAC tournament.

Greenville dropped the first set 25-18, but they began to shift momentum in the second set when they recovered from a 16-10 hole with a 11 of 16 points to bring the second set to a deadlock at 21-all.

After a GU attack error and a service ace by Westminster, the Panthers were staring at a 23-21 deficit. The Panthers received a kill by Mia Bonacorsi and a combined block by Amanda Hollis and Finch to tie the score, and then Finch produced back-to-back kills to give Greenville the set.

The Panthers dominated the third set, winning 25-9, and they handled the Blue Jays in the fourth set 25-15 to take the win.

The Panthers' Smith, Bonacorsi, and Finch all surpassed 10 kills. Smith led GU with 13 kills, and Bonacorsi was right behind her with 12 kills.

Finch posted 10 kills and two errors on 24 swings to end with a .333 hitting percentage.

On defense, Smith and Chasity Hill managed to each collect 22 digs.

At the net, Greenville ended with two solo blocks and 11 block assists. Finch had one solo block and three block assists, while Hollis added four block assists.

The Panthers (9-2, 8-2 SLIAC) will play at Blackburn on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
