Women's cross country returns to top position in SLIAC

LITCHFIELD, Ill. - In the closest race in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship history, the women's cross country team edged out Webster to claim the 2020-21 title. Greenville finished the meet with 27 points, one better than Webster, marking just the second time in conference championship history the title has been decided by one point (1993).

It was a last push by Aryn Scott that was the difference for the Panthers. Scott trailed heading into the final chute but a final kick in the last 10 feet put her ahead the next runner, a Gorlok, by a tenth of a second and claiming the decesive finish.

Greenville placed five runners in the top ten with Hannah Williams leading the way with a second place showing. Olivia Mansfield took 4th while Emma Leonhard finished 6th and Sedina Logan was 8th. Scott grabbed a 9th place finish.

Greenville and Webster actually rotated finishes for the first six spots with Gorlok Danielle Schultz taking home the individual title. Schultz finished in a time of 20:37.33 on the 5k course. She was followed by Cora Reed in 3rd and Kyanne Williams in 5th. Michelle Grant took 10th place and the Gorloks grabbed the final three spots (12 through 14) for All-Conference honors as Megan Bartz, Lindsay Poitras, and Sady Bayne crossed the line in order.
