Men's soccer sends out seniors with 3-1 win
The men's soccer team took a 3-1 win over Blackburn on Saturday to wrap up the SLIAC portion of their schedule in fifth place. Prior to the contest, the Panthers honored seniors Jose Soutullo, Matt White, Adam Jones, David Rakim, and Jonathan Moyo in senior day activities.

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team took a 3-1 win over Blackburn on Saturday to wrap up the SLIAC portion of their schedule in fifth place. Prior to the contest, the Panthers honored seniors Jose Soutullo, Matt White, Adam Jones, David Rakim, and Jonathan Moyo in senior day activities.
After the match went to halftime with no score, Blackburn opened the second half with a pair of scoring opportunities, the second of which found its way into the net, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.
About 10 minutes later, Jared McPeek tied the match for GU with his third goal of the season, and nearly five minutes after that, Luis Duran posted his team-high fifth goal of the season to give GU a 2-1 advantage.
In the 79th minute of the match, McPeek struck again for a goal with an assist coming from Henrique Rodrigues.
McPeek led Greenville with six shots in the match, and he was followed by Duran with five shots.
The Panthers outshot Blackburn 23-16, and Greenville's goalkeeper Gerardo Lopez contributed seven saves.
The Panthers (4-6-3, 4-4-2 SLIAC) will travel to Westminster for a match on Tuesday, April 20, in the quarterfinals of the SLIAC tournament.
