DECATUR, Ill. - The men's soccer team capped a long day of Greenville action against Millikin with a 2-2 draw on Saturday night after the football team played Millikin on the same field earlier in the day.
The Panthers jumped ahead early with a goal from Jared McPeek in the seventh minute of the match with an assist credited to Pablo Valverde.
Just before the first half ended, Benn Jane tallied a goal with eight seconds remaining to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Greenville succumbed to Millikin's pressure, giving up a goal in the 52nd and 80th minutes.
Neither team was able to secure the winning goal, and the game ended in a tie.
Hiram Cruz received the nod as Greenville's goalkeeper, and he had five saves.
Valverde was GU's leader with two shots, one on goal.
Millikin held a 19-8 shot advantage in the match and took nine corner kicks compared to three from Greenville.
The Panthers (0-1-1) will look for their first win on Wednesday with a match at Washington St. Louis.
