PELLA, Iowa - The men's soccer team won their second game in a row, defeating Central (Iowa) 2-1. The Panthers triumphed late in the game with a goal from Ivan Cano-Mayayo.
How it Happened:
1st Half
The Dutch scored early, making it 1-0 in the 6th minute.
However, the Panthers persisted and received shots from Mayayo and Andres Garcia. Then, at the 24-minute mark, Garcia received a penalty kick that he drilled into the back of the net, tying up the game.
2nd Half
With the game tied up 1-1, Greenville came out hot with five shots in the second half. In the 84th minute, one landed to make it 2-1.
After a great save, Valon Ismaili threw the ball downfield to Manolo Juarez who slid past some Dutch defenders and sent the ball to Mayayo. Mayayo raced past a Central defender and knocked it into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Ismaili protected the net with four saves.
