Men's tennis records second place at UMAC qualifier
The men's tennis team qualified for the UMAC tournament by advancing to the finals of the UMAC qualifier on Friday. The Panthers won 5-0 over Webster and then lost the final 5-2 against Principia.
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The men's tennis team qualified for the UMAC tournament by advancing to the finals of the UMAC qualifier on Friday. The Panthers won 5-0 over Webster and then lost the final 5-2 against Principia.
In the match against Webster, Greenville won all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez and the No. 2 combination of Luke Motsinger and Clark Kent gained 8-3 wins. The No. 3 team of Thibaut Tignee and Jean Rigaud Sanabria captured an 8-1 win.
In singles, No. 3 Kent won 6-4, 6-3, and No. 4 Motsinger earned a 6-1, 6-2 win to clinch the match.
The final of the qualifying tournament went to Principia 5-2. The Panthers' No. 1 doubles team of Sanchez and Rodriguez won 8-2.
Greenville's singles win was earned by No. 1 Sanchez 6-3, 6-4.
The Panthers (13-7) will play Wisconsin-Superior on Friday in the UMAC tournament at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
