Men's track and field opens season with two event winners

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The men's track and field team received wins from Carson Rantanen in the 60 meter dash and Wesley Kile in the pole vault in their opening indoor meet of the 2021-22 season.

Rantanen secured the win with a race of 6.94 seconds, and Kile cleared a height of 4.40 meters (14 feet-5.25 inches) to take the title.

C.J. Anderson provided GU with a time of 6.91 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60, earning the best time in those heats, and he was second in the finals with a time of 7.00 seconds.

Hunter Matthews placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters.

Nate Brown produced a throw of 16.55 meters in the weight throw, taking second place, and he gave Greenville a third place finish in the shot put with a distance of 13.09 meters.

Dylan Webster leapt 12.59 meters in the triple jump, collecting a third place effort.

The Panthers season will continue in January with additional indoor meets.
