Men's track and field led by Goodyear and Brown at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The men's track and field team had 15 entries at the Augustana Twilight Qualifier on Thursday. The meet served as their final attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III national championships.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Chase LaTouche, Carson Rantanen, Tyshawn Hamilton, and C.J. Anderson produced a fourth place finish in 41.11 seconds.  They are in the the 15th position nation-wide.

Dylan Goodyear was fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a school record time of 9:07.86, and Nate Brown set a new school record with an attempt of 16.01 meters (52 feet-6.5 inches) in the shot put.

Brown ranked sixth among the field in the shot put.

Dylan Webster cleared a height of 1.93 meters (6-4) in the high jump to finish seventh, and Webster also placed ninth in the pole vault with an effort of 4.35 meters (14-3.25).

Other highlights for the Panthers include Claudio Trevino's lifetime best mark of 50.71 seconds in the 400 meter dash.

Also, Joe Gomez recorded a time of 1:55.37 in the 800, and Kaleb Carlson posted an 800 mark of 1:55.61.  Both times set individual records.

The Panthers will send Anderson as a representative in the 100 meter dash to the NCAA Division III national championships, and Goodyear, Brown, and the 4x100 meter relay have earned marks that should qualify. The D-III meet begins on Thursday, May 26, in Geneva, Ohio.
