Men's track and field compete at the Illinois Col. Snow Bird Open
The men's track and field team showcased some talent at the Illinois College Snow Bird Open, taking two second-place finishes and a few fourth places.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The men's track and field team showcased some talent at the Illinois College Snow Bird Open, taking two second-place finishes and a few fourth places.
How it Happened:
Jordan Peternel brought home one of the second-place titles with a 6.81m leap in long jump. Peternel also posted a 12.80m in the triple jump.
Following Peternel, Keenon Johnikin placed fourth in the long jump with a 6.66m mark.
Cory Stoll had another impressive showing, earning second place in the 200m dash and fourth in the 60m.
In the 60m dash, Stoll qualified with a 7.08s sprint and took fourth with the same time. He earned his spot on the podium for the 200m with a 22.86s dash. Stoll was awarded SLIAC Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.
The 4x400 team (Jalen Franz, Chase LaTouche, Joe Gomez, and Peternel) placed fourth, running a 3:34.46.
Other notable showings from the Panthers include sixth-place finishes from LaTouche and Neko Gibson in their events and a seventh-place standing from Gomez.
LaTouche ran a 52.45 in the 400m, while Gibson posted a 23.14 in the 200m.
Gomez ran a 2:02.33 in the 800m.
