Men's volleyball earns 3-0 win over Missouri Baptist

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's volleyball team returned to action on Wednesday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium, taking a 3-0 win over the Missouri Baptist JV in their first match in over a week.

Greenville won easily, taking a 25-11 win in set one and following it with 25-20 and 25-17 sets to close out the match.

Kyle Ward's presence was felt for Greenville all night.  Ward had a 13-kill night and swung at a .308 rate in leading the team with 13 points.

Isaiah Canales was perfect on the attack with a 6-for-6 effort in kills.

The Panthers earned 10 service aces in the contest, paced by three from both Peter Binder and Andrew Martin

Greenvile's play at the net kept Missouri Baptist off track all night, limiting the Spartans to a sub-zero hitting percentage of -0.014.  Missouri Baptist helped the Panthers by committing 21 errors on the attack.

GU produced one solo block and six block assists. Martin had two block assists, and Isaiah Canales provided the solo block.

Also on the defensive side of the net, EJ Batchelder was Greenville's leader in digs with five in the match.

Tanner Smith led the way for GU with 29 set assists.

The Panthers (6-4) will nearly have a week off until they travel to Fontbonne for a match next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
