ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The men's volleyball team had a tough challenge on Saturday, facing two top-25 teams: Augustana (Ill.) and Aurora. The Panthers dropped both matches 3-0.
How it Happens:
Game 1 vs. Augustana
The Panthers fell to the Vikings in straight sets (15-25, 12-25, 16-25).
Tyrone Ealy and Sam Molitor led Greenville offensively, each recording four kills.
Setter Kevin McGhee Jr. contributed with fourteen assists and added a service ace to the Panthers' effort.
Defensively, John Gannucci anchored the back row with seven digs, while he accounted for three blocks at the net.
Game 2 vs. Aurora
GU also went 3-0 with Aurora, fighting in the last set with nineteen points.
The Panthers' offense found its rhythm in the second set, hitting .263, with standout performances from Ealy and Gannucci, who combined for nine kills.
McGhee kept the attack organized with eleven assists, while Jay Ramirez shined defensively, recording a team-high seven digs.
Greenville fought hard in the third set, staying within striking distance, as their scrappy play forced Aurora to work for every point.
Blocks by Hunter Paulson and Ealy, along with two aces from Sam Molitor, showcased the Panthers' competitive spirit.
