SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - The men's volleyball team took a set against SMWC on Tuesday evening, ultimately dropping both matches though (3-1 and 3-0).
How it Happened:
Match 1
Greenville battled hard but fell to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in a 3-1 loss, struggling in the first two sets, losing 25-18 and 25-13.
The Panthers bounced back in set three with a 25-23 win, showing resilience. However, SMWC closed out the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set.
Caleb Day led Greenville with six kills (.667 K%) and a block, and John Gannucci contributed nine points with six kills and three aces.
Freshman, Izaiah Fenstermaker, crushed it with five kills on a .444 hitting percentage and two solo blocks.
Match 2
GU fell 3-0 in the second match, losing each set 25-12, 25-21, and 25-18.
Fenstermaker led the Panthers with eleven kills and five blocks, but the team couldn't overcome their hitting difficulties.
Day added two kills and four blocks, while Tyrone Ealy and Gannucci contributed three kills each.
On the day, Kevin McGhee Jr. collected 44 assists, seven kills, and four aces.
