GREENVILLE, Ill. – Despite a hard-fought effort, Greenville fell 3-1 to St. Mary-Woods on Tuesday evening at H.J. Long Gymnasium in their last home game of the season.
How it Happened:
The Panthers showed resilience, taking the third set 25-20, but ultimately came up short with set scores of 12-25, 17-25, 25-20, and 21-25.
Andrew Weir was a bright spot for Greenville, delivering seven kills on an efficient .500 hitting percentage.
Izaiah Fenstermaker led the team with nine kills, while Caleb Day and Hunter Paulson each chipped in four.
Defensively, the Panthers recorded 33 digs, with Kevin McGhee Jr. and Jay Ramirez anchoring the back row.
After struggling offensively in the first two sets, Greenville found its rhythm in the third, hitting .088 and capitalizing on St. Mary-Woods' mistakes.
Despite a competitive fourth set, the Pomeroys closed out the match.
