Softball takes doubleheader sweep over Harris-Stowe
The softball team swept their doubleheader against Harris-Stowe on Monday. Greenville defeated the Hornets 13-3 in a six inning game one win and then completed the sweep with a 3-0 shutout in game two.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The softball team swept their doubleheader against Harris-Stowe on Monday. Greenville defeated the Hornets 13-3 in a six inning game one win and then completed the sweep with a 3-0 shutout in game two.
Game 1
GU scored in every inning en route to a 13-3 victory. The Panthers and Hornets matched runs in each of the first two innings, but the Panthers took a commanding lead with three runs in the top of the third, one in the fourth, and a pair in the fifth to build a 8-2 lead.
Harris-Stowe posted a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Greenville's bats were active in the top of the sixth with five runs.
Overall, Greenville produced 11 hits in the game.
Andrea Roberts was outstanding for Greenville from the eighth spot in the lineup, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Emma Funk was 2-for-4 from the second spot with a double, triple, three runs, an RBI, and stolen base.
Mia Boyd was 1-for-3 with four RBI and pitched all six innings for Greenville. She only permitted three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Game 2
A 12-strikeout three-hit shutout by Alison Klaus lifted the Panthers to a 3-0 win in game two of the doubleheader. Klaus limited the Hornets to three hits, one walk, and one hit by pitch.
Greenville went ahead 2-0 in the top of the first when Boyd delivered an RBI single and Jamey Johnson provided an RBI double.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the seventh when Jaclyn Belzer produced a sacrifice fly.
Johnson and Madi Case each finished with two hits for the Panthers. Johnson was 2-for-4, and Case went 2-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases.
Case, Boyd, and Audrey Noble scored a run for Greenville.
Next Up
The Panthers (5-1) will head to Iowa this weekend for a doubleheader against Central on Friday and a doubleheader against Simpson on Saturday.
