FULTON, Mo. - The softball team split Monday's doubleheader against Westminster, winning game one 3-0 and falling in game two 4-3.
Game 1
The Panthers received a sixth inning solo home run from pinch hitter Taylor Weiss to break up Westminster's no-hitter and later benefited from a two run homer by Mia Boyd before the end of the inning in their 3-0 game one win.
Alison Klaus pitched a seven inning complete game shutout, allowing three hits and three walks and gaining three strikeouts.
Game 2
The Blue Jays broke up Greenville's shutout effort with four runs off Andrea Roberts in the sixth inning in Westminster's 4-3 win in game two of Monday's twin bill.
Greenville opened the game with a run in the first inning with Boyd's second home run of the game.
Later, Jaclyn Belzer provided two RBI. Belzer's first RBI came on a single in the third inning to plate Madi Case, and Belzer hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to allow Emma Funk to cross home plate.
In Westminster's turn at bat in the sixth inning, a leadoff walk and three straight hits followed by a pair of run-scoring fielder's choices gave the Blue Jays four runs, and the Panthers were unable to score to tie the game in the top of the seventh.
Case, Boyd, and Sarah Salas each posted two hits for GU.
