WAVERLY, Iowa - The women's basketball team opened their season at the Wartburg Tipoff Tournament. The Panthers dropped two games against Bethel (Minn.) and Wartburg.
How it Happened:
Game 1 vs. Bethel
Greenville opened its season with an 84-48 loss to Bethel. Despite strong performances from Alyssa Seymour (8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists) and Carolina Hoffman (7 points and 1 assist), the Panthers struggled to match Bethel's offense.
Greenville fought back in the third quarter with 22 points but couldn't overcome the Royals.
Game 2 vs. Wartburg
The Panthers fell 94-59 to Wartburg on Saturday after a hard-fought game.
Hoffman led the way with 15 points, and Baylie Joiner contributed 14, showing offensive potential as a freshman.
Despite a slow start and turnovers, Greenville made adjustments in the second half, almost matching Wartburg's offense in the third quarter.
GU showed depth in their lineup as Mya Mann put up 10 points.
