Women's soccer edged by Olivet golden goal

OLIVET, Mich. - The women's soccer team played their second overtime match of the young season and were nipped 2-1 by Olivet in the 92nd minute of Friday's contest.

Greenville took the early advantage, receiving Jen De Leon De Leon's third goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game. De Leon De Leon received a pass from Megan Taylor and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper for the tally.

Olivet tied the score just over 13 minutes later after a header on a free kick.

The Comets topped the Panthers when a shot from 40 yards got past goalkeeper Marjory Coates for the winner.

Olivet outshot Greenville 15-10, but Coates was up for the challenge with six saves among Olivet's eight shots on goal.

De Leon De Leon helped the Panther attack with four shots, including two on goal.

Jordan Wilson and Ellie Cummins each added a pair of shots for Greenville.

The Panthers (0-2-1) continue their Michigan trip with a match at Albion on Saturday.
