GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team kicked off their season at home with a 2-2 tie against DePauw. With goals from Ava Pollard and Samantha De La Cruz, the Panthers were able to match the opposing Tigers.
Here's How it Happened:
1st Half
The Panthers were outshot 8-3 in the first half but kept DePauw at bay. Addison Miller protected the net in the first forty-five with two saves.
De La Cruz and Dillyn Baer put up one shot each with no luck. However, with seconds left in the first half, Pollard charged downfield to knock one in to take the lead.
2nd Half
Leading 1-0, GU persisted with two more shots from Baer and Angie Russo before De La Cruz put one in the back of the net in the 63rd minute.
Unfortunately, DePauw returned a goal a minute later, making it 2-1. They added another one in the 78th minute to tie up the game.
Madison Ashford was at goalkeeper for the Panthers in the second half.
