GREENVILLE, Ill. - After a back-and-forth fight, the women's soccer team fell 4-3 to Kalamazoo. It was an equal matchup between the Panthers and the Hornets, but unfortunately, Kalamazoo came out on top.
How it Happened:
1st Half
Greenville put up five shots with one landing in the back of the net. Dillyn Baer knocked one in during the ninth minute with an assist from Allyson Schulz.
The Hornets put one on the board five minutes later to tie it up before halftime.
2nd Half
The Panthers came out more aggressive in the second half with seven shots. They took back the lead in the 57th minute with a goal from Angie Russo, assisted by Vanessa Ramirez.
GU held the 2-1 lead until the last four minutes of the game.
Kalamazoo tied it up again in the 86th minute, but Greenville quickly jumped back on top with an unassisted goal from Emma Cadwell in the 87th.
The Hornets matched it nearly two minutes later and then shut the door with a fourth goal in the last twenty-five seconds.
Senior goalkeeper, Addison Miller, protected the net for Greenville for the first forty-five minutes with three saves and only one goal against. Madison Ashford filled in for the second half and had five saves.
