NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team earned their first win of the season against Albion. The Panthers defeated the Britons 2-1 in a hard-fought battle.
How it Happened:
1st Half
Dillyn Baer tried to put the Panthers on top early in the game with four shots within the first twenty minutes.
The Panthers also saw shots from Alexis Romeo, Allyson Schulz, and Katelyn Christensen in the first half but none found their way to the back of the net.
At the 35th minute, Albion managed to score, making it 1-0.
2nd Half
Greenville's offense came out hot in the second half with two quick shots by Emma Cadwell and Angie Russo.
Finally, in the 56th minute, one from Vanessa Ramirez landed. Ramirez, with an assist from Baer, tied it up for the Panthers.
After a couple more shots from Samantha De La Cruz and Carolelyn LaPrairie, Mia Long knocked one in during the 79th minute to take the 2-1 lead.
Baer attempted one more shot in the last ten minutes, but it was saved by the keeper.
GU outshot the Britons 14-13, and the Panthers' keeper, Madison Ashford, collected eight saves.
