GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team defeated Spalding 2-1 in the semi-finals to advance to the SLIAC championship game.
How it Happened:
Greenville maintained its unbeaten conference record with a 2-1 win over Spalding, moving to 8-0-1 in the SLIAC. The Panthers wasted little time asserting their dominance, with Emma Cadwell putting them ahead in the 7th minute with an unassisted strike.
Just before halftime, Greenville extended its lead to 2-0 when Samantha De La Cruz found the back of the net in the 40th minute, assisted by Alexis Romeo's corner kick.
The Golden Eagles responded in the second half with a goal in the 74th minute, cutting the lead in half to 2-1. However, Greenville's defense stood strong to secure the win.
Goalkeeper Addison Miller made four saves to preserve the lead, while the Panthers controlled possession, outshooting Spalding 12-7. With the victory, Greenville improves to 10-7-2 on the season as they seek the championship title.
