GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team claimed their second-ever SLIAC Tournament Championship title with an intense 2-1 win over Webster.
How it Happened:
Greenville rallied in the second half to secure the 2-1 victory.
Webster took the early lead in the 14th minute with a goal from Malaya Blakely to put the Gorloks ahead 1-0.
The teams remained evenly matched through the first half, with Greenville's defense holding strong despite a red card to Vanessa Ramirez in the 22nd minute, leaving the Panthers down a player on the field.
In the second half, Greenville found their rhythm, with Allyson Schulz netting the equalizer in the 47th minute, assisted by Angie Russo.
Schulz then scored again in the 55th minute, this time connecting with Alexis Romeo to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Despite several chances, Webster could not break through, as Greenville held on to win and claim the conference title.
