Women's tennis places second at UMAC qualifier
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's tennis team swept Webster 5-0 in the UMAC South qualifying tournament and dropped the second match 5-2 against Principia in the final on Saturday.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's tennis team swept Webster 5-0 in the UMAC South qualifying tournament and dropped the second match 5-2 against Principia in the final on Saturday.
Against Webster, Greenville swept doubles with wins from the No. 1 team of Addison Brannon and Lanie Carder, the No. 2 duo of Ireland Oliver and Callie Adkins, and the No. 3 combo of Emily Buratovich Maltbie and Evie Johnson.
In singles, No. 3 Carder made quick work of her opponent in a 6-1, 6-1 victory, and No. 2 Brannon collected a 6-3, 6-0 win.
The championship match against Principia went to PC by a 5-2 score.
The No. 1 doubles team of Brannon and Carder ground out an 8-6 win in GU's only doubles victory.
In singles, No. 3 Carder picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win.
The Panthers (11-8) will play Wisconsin-Superior in the UMAC semifinals on Friday in St. Louis.
