Women's track and field earns fifth place at NCCAA nationals
The women's track and field team collected 92 points and earned the fifth place position at the NCCAA national championships at Columbia International.
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The women's track and field team collected 92 points and earned the fifth place position at the NCCAA national championships at Columbia International.
Emma Brown and Abbi Thomason placed 1-2 in the javelin with throws surpassing 38 meters. Brown was the national champion with an attempt of 38.55, and Thomason was right behind her at 38.45 meters.
Talahiva Talanoa finished on top of the field by close to five meters with a hammer attempt of 52.06 meters for first place. She also collected third place in the shot put with a mark of 13.00 meters.
Gretchen Carie's time of 11:37.60 in the 3000 meter steeplechase was good for second.
Laila Graham earned second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.65 meters, and Anna Beth Vancil ranked fourth with a height of 1.59 meters.
GU's highly competitive 4x100 meter relay finished second in 46.90 seconds.
Sara Yakana place third in the long jump at 5.70 meters.
Taylor Tucker ranked third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.51 seconds.
