Talanoa leads women's track and field at John Craft Invite
CHARLESTON, Ill. - The women's indoor track and field team competed at EIU's John Craft Invite, seeing some great performances from Talahiva Talanoa, Anna Beth Vancil, and Eva Schwaab.
How it Happened:
Talanoa brought home the event title in the weight throw with her 17.63m heave. She also earned third place in shot put with a 13.50m throw. With her outstanding performances, Talanoa earned SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week.
Vancil showcased her talent in the triple jump, placing third with a 1.55m jump.
In the 600m race, Schwaab ran a 1:49.53 to earn her a spot at third place.
After placing fourth in prelims for the 60m hurdles, TyKiaza Jones posted a 9.58 in the finals, earning fifth place.
Jocelyn Fritz ran a 7.94 in the 60m prelim dash to move on to the finals where she ended at fifth with an 8.07.
The Panthers also saw honorable performances from Ella Ray and Lainey Hicks. Ray placed sixth in the weight throw and Hicks posted a 4.69m jump in the long jump.
