Women's track and field takes home two event titles in Snow Bird Open
The women's track and field team took home two field event titles and a couple of second and third-place finishes in the IC Snow Bird Open.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's track and field team had some impressive performances in the Illinois College Snow Bird Open. The Panthers took home two field event titles and a couple of second and third-place finishes.
How it Happened:
Anna Beth Vancil stood out with her high jump performance, receiving a 1.50m mark and earning first place.
Kenzie Kurdys also earned a first-place title with her 3.35m pole vault.
In triple jump, Jazmyn Harmon took second with an 11.08m jump. Lainey Hicks followed her with a 10.16, placing sixth. Harmon did well in the long jump, placing fourth with a 5.21m jump.
Gretchen Carie also took second in her event, running an 11:02.25 in the 3000m. With her performance, Carie earned herself SLIAC Athlete of the Week.
After qualifying with a 9.47s sprint, TyKiaza Jones placed third in the 60m hurdles with a 9.54.
Also placing third, Jocelyn Fritz ran a 26.53 in the 200m dash.
The 4x400 team did pretty well, placing sixth with a 4:31.12.
