ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's volleyball team kicked off conference play with two wins this weekend. They defeated Fontbonne 3-1 and Blackburn 3-0.
The Panthers sit in second place in the early rankings with a 2-0 conference record.
How it Happened:
Match 1 vs. Fontbonne
Greenville had two close sets to begin their first match. They lost 26-24 to the Griffins in set one but flipped it for set two, winning 26-24.
After winning the second set, the momentum shifted and the Panthers dominated in sets three and four, beating Fontbonne 25-15 in both games.
Abby Grohmann led the team with twenty kills and a kill percentage of .357 with fifteen digs and two aces.
Emma Ratermann had an impressive fifty-one assists in match one.
Match 2 vs. Blackburn
The Panthers had a quick three sets against Blackburn, beating them by a large margin each game.
Greenville collected a total of forty-two kills in this match with Anna Beth Vancil as their leader. Vancil had thirteen kills, hitting a .455.
Lucia Garcia led the team defensively for both matches, collecting thirty-eight digs.
