GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team clinched the regular season conference champion title yet again after their win against Eureka on Tuesday evening!
On Wednesday, the Panthers hosted their final regular season home game against WashU. GU put up a good fight against the Bears but ultimately lost the match.
How it Happened:
Match 1 vs. Eureka
The Panthers demolished the Red Devils 3-0, winning the first set 25-16, the second 25-13, and capping it off with a 25-20 win in the third set.
The team collected fifty-one kills with Abby Grohmann at the forefront. Grohmann crushed fourteen over the net, served two aces, and had eleven digs.
Defensively, Mia deJesus and Lucia Garcia stood out. DeJesus had three blocks while Garcia collected eleven digs.
With this win, Greenville solidified its spot at the top of the conference.
Match 2 vs. WashU
With three hard-fought sets, the Panthers struggled to overcome the Bears.
Lainey Hicks led Greenville with 9 kills and a .571 hitting percentage, while Mia deJesus added 6 kills on .545 hitting.
Despite strong individual efforts, the Panthers were unable to overcome WashU's defense and offensive efficiency.
Up Next:
The Panthers (18-9, 13-2 SLIAC) travel to Spalding on Saturday for their last regular season matchup. Once that is wrapped up, GU will host the conference tournament on November 16th.
