As a Greenville College sprinter, Gilles has competed in the 60, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 4x200 events. She holds school records in the 200 (25.55), 300 (41.18), 400 (56.62), 500 (1:18.56), and 4x200 (1:48.66). She has qualified for the NCCAA national championships this season in the 60, 200, and 400.

Gilles became the squad's first NCAA outdoor All-American since 2012 and one of two female competitors to ever finish as a national runner-up.
